Printing as Painting
These are works on paper that have been created by applying digital filters to the photo representation of my paintings. These inkjet archival prints (giclees) are meant to convey a change of style from the original art – reforming the new object into a graphical image, which might be more appropriate to the printmaking tradition. By changing the drawing, the medium expression or the straightforward definition of the previously painted picture, all this can become a continued exploration into how pattern, color, wash, strokes, simplicity, abstraction, design and happenstance will drive related art imagery further. Nothing needs to be the end of a painting, the one of, or the exact duplicate of an existing picture. If the need to rely on multiples as an inexpensive product is important, let’s keep it changing and original in and of itself.
